A group of eager volunteers in love with music, Garden Wonder hold cool concerts once or twice a month at unusual locations around Budapest – someone’s flat, a hair saloon, a tattoo parlour, a coffee shop or a design store. Under the motto of ‘Come, Connect, Chill’, Garden Wonder aim to create a music-loving community who gather time and again for lighthearted fun and informal sounds.

Garden Wonder was first organised ad-hoc last summer, literally in the garden of a family home. A San-Diego based tap guitarist, 73 guests, a huge garden, fairy lights and marshmallows, and they had it: a fun gathering of cool people coming together to enjoy music. This initial success provided the impetus to make these events regular, so now Garden Wonder is held about once or twice a month at a secret spot in Budapest, transforming everyday settings into locations for mini concerts and expanding this cool music-loving community in the city.

Garden Wonder always announce each upcoming concert on their Facebook page. Those who sign up must commit, as places are usually limited to 30-40 people. Members are then the first to find out about the next one, so they can register before the date is made known to all Facebook users. The exact location is only sent to those who have already registered.

At each event, normally two or three up-and-coming artists of different genres perform – the main profile is indie-folk, but all are welcome. Between the 20- to 30-minute sets, there is always a break for people to socialise, artists keeping the community alive and buzzing. The next concert is tomorrow, Friday – follow the Facebook page for more info.
