Loving Vincent
If you have not yet seen the world’s first fully painted feature film, Loving Vincent, you can do so this month. On 27th July 1890, a gaunt figure stumbles down a drowsy high street at twilight in the small French country town of Auvers. The man was carrying nothing; his hands clasped to a fresh bullet wound leaking blood from his belly. This was Vincent van Gogh, then a little known artist, now the most famous painter in the world. His tragic death has long been known – what has remained a mystery is how and why he came to be shot. Loving Vincent tells that story, through depictions of his amazing artworks.

On Body and Soul
If you have not yet seen Hungary’s Oscar nominee, you can still watch it on the big screen in Budapest alfresco. On Body and Soul is a metaphor-filled surreal drama based on the duality of the world of imagination and dreams. In it, Mária and Endre work at a slaughterhouse, and realise that they are both part of the same intimate and tender dream, in which they gradually get closer to each other as deer. However, in real life they often find themselves in rather awkward but truly realistic situations, and their relationship is not nearly as intimate and soothing as in their shared dreams.
