After Budapest’s popular Instant ruin pub hosted its final party at its original Nagymező Street location last week, rumors were swirling about where this iconic club would create a new home. Recently we got the official answer: Instant and Fogas Ház will soon join forces at one grand location, which will likely make it the largest inner-city party complex in Europe. On March 14th, Instant, Fogas Ház, Fogas Kert, Liebling, PONT, and LÄRM will relaunch with an extra 1,200 square meters, brand-new musical projects, longer opening hours, and several extra surprises.

Among Budapest’s world-famous ruin-pub scene, two of the most popular destinations have been Instant and Fogas Ház for several years now – both of these gigantic party places have constantly attracted huge crowds with numerous bars, dance floors, and diverse music performances, pretty much guaranteeing an unforgettable time for anyone who visited either nightspot. Instant has always been especially popular for hosting parties on every day of the week, while Fogas Ház is made up of many smaller units that push fun to the extreme, such as its venue for college-style house parties at PONT, its casual-yet-sophisticated Liebling bar with a rooftop terrace, and its Berlin-style black-walled haven of electronic music, LÄRM.

When Instant hosted its last party at its original Nagymező Street location last Wednesday, we were left in the dark as to where they would relocate – but by the end of last week, we got the official answer: Instant is joining forces with Fogas Ház to create a District VII mega-nightspot on the already crowded Akácfa Street. We asked Patrik Nádas, one of the most significant figures of the Fogas family, to learn more about the merger.

Patrik said that they have been looking to create the perfect nightlife venue for a long time, and finally decided to expand the FogasHáz location with Instant instead of launching a new headquarters somewhere else. The success of integrating LÄRM at Fogas Ház has already proved to be a great example for what potential lies in this approach. The new merged club complex will make its public debut on March 14th.

To accommodate the melding of Instant and Fogas Ház, the premises is being expanded with an extra 1,200 square meters, including a huge cellar with high potential. There’s no need to worry that Liebling, PONT, Fogas Kert, or LÄRM will be left out of the fun, as they will only introduce changes in their opening hours. Just as would be expected from Instant, the parties there will go on until 6am, and to help diversify the scene, LÄRM is planning to host free parties on weekdays, thus providing a bigger platform for electronica enthusiasts.

An important innovation is that rock music will also be introduced to the building’s repertoire. The nw underground rock stage will revive the harder side of live music in Budapest’s nightlife, and in addition to fresh talents, several well-known rock musicians will also regularly jam here.
