A short walk from busy Kálvin Square, a narrow sidestreet hides a newly opened hotspot selling all things spicy from fiery sandwiches to chili-infused sweets. Guests here can challenge their taste buds with peppery meals freshly prepared on the spot and browse a tasteful range of piquant products available for purchase. Merchandise includes dried habanero, pungent pepper sauce, sweet-and-spicy chutneys and hot accessories like pendants and key chains filled with dried chilies. Expect a nose-blowing experience.

Chilli Village is not for the faint-hearted. Hidden in plain sight in central Budapest’s charming Képíró Street, this recently opened outlet and dining destination proffers peppery products ranging from the spiciest meals to the hottest handmade products. Guests craving fiery food can order sandwiches by mixing a variety of ingredients available on the menu. Smoked duck breast goes very well with Parmesan cheese, red onions and the restaurant’s own fig sauce made with chili sauce – hot, of course. If you want to add more spice to your meal, your sandwich will come filled with extra pepper sauce.

A mildly spiced soup completes your menu, green-bean, perhaps, or sweet pumpkin, with flavors changing daily that diners can always enhance with extra chili. Then there are the desserts, all made with a piquant twist. The soft carrot cake, scrumptious chocolate cookie and the muffins contain a dab of chili for that tongue-tingling feel. On request, a pinch of pepper is added even to your coffee for an extra kick.

Restaurant shelves showcase all kinds of spicy produce available for purchase, including dried Habanero, hot pumpkin chutney and a special sauce made with Carolina Reaper, the world’s hottest pepper. In addition, fervent paprika fans can buy necklaces with chili-filled pendants, pepper-shaped brooch and postcards featuring the spicy treat. Currently, most of the paprika products are made with South-American chilis grown in Hungary by Magyar producers. In the future, hot Hungarian paprika might be added to the selection.
