To celebrate this year's World Vegetarian Day on October 1st, all month Hard Rock Cafes around the world are now offering a special vegetarian menu. The Hard Rock in Budapest is joining the initiative for the third time, serving hearty healthy meals rocking superfoods like quinoa and avocado.

While Hard Rock Cafe is known for its juicy hamburgers and barbecued meats that we can eat alongside music paraphernalia while listening to classic tunes, meat-free dishes show up on the menu every once in a while, as well – such as the periodically available Indian legendary burger, the crispy Buffalo-style “cauliflower wings”, and the quinoa burger.

At the beginning of October, vegetarian month began at the Hard Rock Cafes of the world with a little more chickpea, avocado, and red cranberry, as well as a special menu. The restaurant at Vörösmarty Square’s former stock-exchange building joined the campaign for the third time this year: until November 12th, we can choose among six exciting meat-free dishes. These offers are quite similar to the other temptations that arrived from the kitchen, which is by no means coincidental – as we learned, all dishes undergo serious international judging before making the menu.

The vegetarian menu features all the signature dishes of Hard Rock Cafe – wraps, tacos, salads, hamburgers, and quesadillas – but with a twist. The toasted hamburger buns embrace a patty made from potato, spinach, and chickpeas, seasoned with some chili and coriander; the wrap is filled with grilled vegetables and Sriracha mayonnaise; and the two types of quinoa salads are citrusy, fresh, light, and healthy.

Our favorite was the Southwest grain bowl (3,500 HUF) with brown rice, beans, corn, avocado salad, and tofu cream, and we also liked the vegetarian hamburger (3,600 HUF), served with spicy fries and sauce. The most popular dishes might become part of the permanent menu, but anyone who definitely wants to try these meat-free delicacies should drop by the restaurant before November 12th.
