Central Pest’s historic Downtown Market is already a gourmet gathering place for its vendors of fresh produce downstairs and numerous stalls offering top-quality street food upstairs, but during the 30th-anniversary Bocuse d’Or finale, this spacious locale also serves as the primary public-viewing venue for the international culinary competition. Naturally, the Hungarian foodie fans will be watching Széll and his team as they start cooking on Tuesday at 9:50am, with their delicious dish needing to be ready by 2:50pm before the Magyars’ tasteful composition is presented to the judges at 3:25pm. While following the proceedings on both the 24th and 25th, the audience at the Downtown Market can cheer for the Hungarian squad while tasting mouthwatering meals for breakfast and lunch all throughout the epicurean event.
After the top prize is awarded on Wednesday afternoon, dedicated epicures can come back to the Downtown Market on January 28th, when the Breakfast Market BdO Extra awaits gourmands with tasteful chicken and vegetable meals created with the same ingredients that are used during the contest; later that day, an After Party concludes the celebrations starting at 6pm, when gourmands can celebrate together with the Magyar contestants amid rhythmic DJ tunes, popping champagne bottles, and market-style meals. Entrance to all of these events at the Downtown Market is free of charge.
