The biggest open-air concert venue in Europe recently launched its newest season with a superb lineup of bands, and now featuring large screens for sports broadcasts. Budapest Park is a sprawling venue in south Pest that has a festival feeling during every show, and this summer the management is aiming to be a home for soccer fans, too – visitors can watch all matches of the upcoming European Championships on giant projector screens. But let’s not forget about the concerts!

During its well-deserved cold-season break, the biggest open-air concert venue of Europe went through some changes. The founders made the auditorium in front of the main stage even bigger, so you can watch the concerts from more spots and get more comfortable while doing so. They’ve also built bigger terraces and more toilets, so there won’t be long lines in front of the latter. There is also a new venue: the Sportkert (aka Sport Garden) with 15-square-meter projection screens, where hundreds of sport addicts will be able to follow the most awaited event of the summer, the European Championships – and before that, the Champions League final.

But let’s talk about the main attraction at
Budapest Park: the concerts. Famous international acts will definitely impress music fans – after their concert at last year’s Sziget Festival, the Foals return to the capital – on August 17th, they’ll rock out at Budapest Park. Bob Marley’s son, the Grammy-winning Damian Jr. “Gong” Marley, and another member of the Marley family, Ky-Mani Marley, will also be performing at BP, the latter with Gentleman! Legendary guitarist Steve Vai will appear as well, just like ZAZ, and the most popular punk-rock band of Canada, Billy Talent.

Among the major Hungarian talents that will grace the stage, Irie Maffia will start its concert series from Budapest Park, and it is also the only club where Punnany Massif will perform this year – but to compensate for this, they’ll play four concerts. The Budapest-based fans will be able to hear the new Halott Pénz songs first at his concert at Budapest Park, and Wellhello also hints at new hits. Bands like Zagar, Hősök, or AkkezdetPhiai will celebrate their anniversary here, and of course, we can also expect to rock out with each and every important band from the Hungarian music scene, from Szabó Balázs Bandája to Pannonia Allstars Ska Orchestra, from Brains to Quimby – just to name a few of them.Although the list of performers is still not complete, acts like Kistehén, Biorobot, the Biebers, Mary Popkids, and also Belga, Lóci játszik, Ladánybene 27, and Firkin will also stand on the famous stage.

Fans of metalcore should already circle June 14th in their calendars, as on that day no less than five bands will perform: August Burns Red, Bury Tomorrow, Killswitch Engage, Architechts, and Atreyu. From Spain comes a world-music act formed by Argentinian and Columbian refugees: Che Sudaka.

Of course the retro madness is never over at
Budapest Park: local and international superstars of bygone eras will transport you back in time.
Scooter, Thomas Anders from Modern Talking, and of course, another Total Dance Festival with LazyDee, aka Mr. President, Bestiák, Betty Love, Happy Gang, and Ámokfutók.
