During September 29-30, Toldi Cinema once again turns into Hungary’s MTV headquarters, as the second occasion of the “Magyar Klipszemle” (aka the Hungarian music-clip showcase) will take place there again. During these two days, anyone can watch and vote for more than 100 videos among those that were made in recent months, ranging from no-budget homemade productions to well-funded animated spectacles, and also participate at Q&A sessions, workshops, parties, and so on. If you want to get a bit more familiar with the Hungarian music scene, here is your chance!

The first Hungarian music video showcase took place last autumn, and during its two days, no less than 156 clips were screened for the visitors, who could choose their favorites in ten categories. In 2015, a video by the Pannonia Allstars Ska Orchestra, Részeg (meaning “drunk”), was awarded the trophy for the best clip.

Winners in other categories included Wellhello’s

Apuveddmeg (best animated clip) or Yvein Monq’s

Until that time, there weren’t any platforms where those who are interested could find outstanding Hungarian clips. Surely, there were video premieres, but that was all. In a country where bands often make more than 20 new clips every year, that’s a shame. This is why the Magyar Klipszemle was founded: to make a showcase that focuses on the artistic values of the videos, and where prominent figures of the music industry can meet with artists and directors. There were Q&A sessions, workshops, and, of course, after parties, which were open for everybody, so you could truly learn a lot in just 48 hours.

Between September 29-30, you can view and vote for videos in no less than 11 categories (best lyric video, animated clip, best trash, and so on) for your favorite clip, and just like last year, there will be all sorts of accompanying programs, from workshops to parties, from lectures to open-table discussions. Among the 342 clips that were submitted for the showcase, the jury chose 123, which they will screen during the two days. Musically, they range from hip-hop to hard rock, from electronica to pop, so you’ll surely find something to your liking, and believe us, the end of September will be filled with audio-enhanced eye candy!
