In the spring of 2015, animals going to the slaughterhouse might be offered new hope. The rightly popular Napfényes has opened a new restaurant at Ferenciek Square. In Hungarian the name means "sun drenched" and this spot truly deserves its name. Its pleasant atmosphere is further enhanced by the fact that we can eat a lot of delicious vegan food for a good price.

Vegan food has come into style. The boom has helped create a lot of nice restaurants, where we can eat healthfully for a fair price. One of the best known places is Napfényes Restaurant, which has been hiding in a cellar in Rózsa Street for years. However, recently, much like the eramoscorpius, the restaurant has climbed out into the sunlight to begin its next stage of evolution.

While the new unit is much larger, more spacious and brighter than the original restaurant, the menu is just as diverse. It includes dishes like bean goulash (990 HUF), stuffed seitan (wheat gluten) in a walnut coating (2000 HUF), “creamy” spinach spaghetti (1800 HUF), vegetable ragout soup with tarragon (590 HUF), pesto and tomato penne (1800 HUF), and seitan "brassói" with "lecsó" (2000 HUF) which are two Hungarian classics.

They have rethought a lot of dishes that are usually missing from the plates of vegans, such as the classic fried cheese/tartar sauce/fries combination, pizza thickly packed with vegan cheese, a good Hungarian “meatloaf” or stuffed cabbage. These dishes all cost around 1800-2000 HUF and the portions are large enough to make us want to have lunch - or even dinner - here.

Napfényes sticks to healthy options with their drinks as well. They do not serve alcohol, but instead we can drink various freshly squeezed juices, smoothies, organic grain coffee and "milk"shakes.

They also have their own confectionery, and they will hold the 11th Napfényes Festival in PeCsa on 7 June 2015, where each program is designed to satisfy all of our spiritual health needs.
