Macaron Day ("Jour du Macaron") was first celebrated in Paris in 2010; and then New York joined the banzai one year later. On this day, confectioneries that sell these fine cookies not only showcase their finest macarons to the general public, but also support charity.
"The macaron enjoys increasing popularity which cannot be considered part of a trend wave; it is a new and widely endeared product, for which there will always be need. In New York and Paris, all of the popular and high standard confectioneries sell macarons, since that is the way they can really show their potential,” says Regina Boros, who brought Macaron Day to Hungary four years ago, and is the chief organiser of the event.
The largest and most beloved confectioneries will take part in this year’s event including the fun Sugar Shop, the professional Desszert Neked, the creative Four Seasons Gresham, and naturally, Centrál Café. The popular Vanilin Confectionery is also part of the lineup, along with the newish Bolka Bonbon, which debuted last year and set up a very popular stand. Cake Shop also joins the event as one of the debuting participants at this year’s Macaron Day, but we can expect other new exhibitors, as well. For example, Boutiq Bar’s team will improve (or at least unwind) the general atmosphere with their macaron-like cocktails. Perfumer Zsolt Zólyomi, a regular participant comes with an amazing collection this year: a fragrance bouquet well-known by all macaron fans, created by the Parisian confectionery Ladurée.
As another splash of colour, the event gives an extra push to the emerging Éclair craze as well, with Á table! Boulangerie - Pâtisserie’s spectacular Éclair stand. We can't wait to taste this French choux pastry, filled with cream and topped with icing. This year, the event takes place in the grand hall of the newly renovated Akvárium Klub, where a large stage and a LED wall full of images and animations of macaron will entertain visitors.
