Although a growing number of places in Budapest have a baby changing room and tolerate kids screaming at the top of their lungs and biting the waiter, it is still tricky to find a place where parents can have a social life, even with non-parents, in a place that still caters to the needs of their young children. Hellóanyu ("HelloMum") wishes to fill this market gap with the hope that this family-friendly café and community space has everything that both parents and kids could want and need.
All it takes is an easy to reach spot in District VII, a space with a café, a play corner, a baby changing room, child-friendly dishes, various programs, workshops and talks, plus some alternative baby-sitting.
To the untrained eye, it might look like a centre of chaos and colour but for parents it's an island of peace. The whole design was created with children in mind, with both safety and fun at the heart of the matter.
And all this makes it easy to relax in. Parents can chat and charge up, while kids let off steam, and everyone's happy.
The programs are quite diverse: the range includes shadow theatre, singing, dance, massage for parents, and playful crafts for kids.
There are also events focusing on more serious issues, like returning to work.
Another great thing about Hellóanyu is that it's perfect for young kids of all ages. It is also perfect for meeting a friend that you couldn't otherwise catch up with because of the kids.
