It’s not always easy to have a dog especially if you live in the city. It can be quite stressful at times so you need to take some time off every now and then, you should have a coffee, have lunch or a glass of cool lemonade to chill out a bit. Of course you should also take your puppy with you! Budapest offers more and more opportunities for dogs nowadays; there are great places where pets are welcome too, especially in this season. It wasn’t hard to find the most dog-friendly places of Budapest, so we – accompanied by Carlos – discovered six of the possibilities. Carlos by the way is a real urban puppy – he was raised in the city, he grew up here and he is a regular guest at Városliget, as well as in different pubs and cafés.

Kertem

“A place where kids, pets and bikes are welcome too.” Since pets – and dogs in particular – were not left out from the trinity we were sure that Kertem will be a great place for us to have a drink. We might even say that Kertem is a multifunctional place for pets and for us as well. On one hand it is very dog-friendly; it offers a real jungle for the puppies, there are hidden little blotters for them and of course other doggies are always around to play with. On the other hand the place is suitable for us too – it is situated in Városliget, which by the way is one of the best spots for doggies and their masters. It gets a bit exhausting though to walk miles in the park and it’s also a bit tiring to play with our little favourites so a glass of cool will be more than refreshing. Last but not least, the neighbouring area is full of dog-friendly folks.

Mocco – take some time off on the riverside

Mocco is a popular place for one very simple reason; you will get exactly what you need. Of course you will be just as much satisfied if you take your dog with you – no matter what breed or what size it is. Carlos-sized puppies and bigger dogs are welcome too, inside and outside as well. This friendly atmosphere is probably the result of the attitude of the owners. There’s nothing worse than an owner who hates pets. So before or after a long walk at , in lunchtime or in your coffee break you should go to Mocco!

Eklektika Restolounge – a break from the rush hours

“We try to make you feel at home” – the slogan, or promise let’s just say, is kept. What is more it is overachieved: sometimes Carlos has to wait for hours at home for his water to be changed in his blotter while at Eklektika he got some fresh water in a blink of an eye. Another thing that he was quite keen on was the number of other doggies that were hanging around. Fortunately most of them were on a leash, so the lounge remained a lounge and it didn’t become a zoo.

Most! – Doggies who live for the moment

Most! is yet another place that doggies will love. It’s spacious inside out and there are colourful and soft rugs for them to play on. If the puppies can grab a bite from our quesadillas they will be over the moon for sure. Probably this is the reason why Most! is on the top list of dog owners when it comes to going out. Carlos is very much in favour of Most! as well by the way.

Spájz – Real treats for doggies

Once upon a time there was a nice old Australian lady who had no place to go to, to have her morning coffee with her dog around Spájz. So they offered an own table for them halfway between the terrace and the kitchen. This way the dog stayed away from the kitchen and the trouble too. Ever since there is a sitting order for the doggies and for the masters: there are two tables reserved for them and of course there are free tables at the terrace as well. Carlos was a bit short of free space to run around, but he should be happy anyway, he is at a great place.
