Decorated for the Christmas holidays,
Corvin Square
will host a market with the products of applied folk artists compliant with the highest professional standards, the craft wares produced by vocational school students, and the handcrafted creations of people living with disabilities. The
market
has a dual objective: offering customers good quality products at great prices, and providing a place to sell for organizations
promoting
the future of craftsmanship and/or the sustenance and successful performance on the job market of disadvantaged groups. The participants include Munka-Kör Alapítvány for the hearing impaired, Világ Világossága Kézműves Műhelyház for the blind and visually impaired and Bárka Műhely employing more than 20 intellectually disabled people in its weaving, candle making, beadwork, paper and puppet making workshops. It is a great delight that the market’s selection includes products made in the framework of a project promoting the traditions of villages in the vicinity of Ózd as well as the culture of the ethnic group of the Barkós. A great mood is guaranteed by folk music concerts, nativity plays and demonstrations by vocational schools on an open-air stage.
Similar to previous years,
Hagyományok Háza
(Hungarian Heritage House) will organize its annual publication and craft fair (
December 12-13
), with ethnographical works, dance DVDs and audio releases sold at discounted prices. The spectacular creations made by instructors and course participants at Hagyományok Háza will also be available for purchase.
