New summer dishes at the Michelin-recommended BBQ restaurant

Baltazár Budapest Boutique Hotel, together with its own restaurant called Baltazár Bar & Grill, is tucked away in the Castle District in Országház utca. Trust us, it's not just another BBQ restaurant. The venue, which offers delicious grilled dishes, colourful vegetarian options, and a local wine selection, received no less acknowledgement than the prestigious Michelin recommendation a few years ago.

The restaurant’s cuisine is not only of impeccable quality, but also changes seasonally. This summer, two exciting new dishes have been added to the menu. The Baltazár superfood salad with fresh lettuce, quinoa, broccoli, avocado, soy beans, pomegranates, cocktail tomatoes and feta cheese is generously packed and dressed with a balsamic dressing. You can also add chicken or prawns to it if you like. Such light dishes are especially appealing in the summer heat, and at Baltazár, you can be sure that all the ingredients are freshly prepared with care.

For those who want a real smoky flavour from the grill, we recommend Baltazár’s BBQ burger. It’s an honest summer dish where the aged beef patty with crispy bacon, the cheese sauce, the onion-bacon jam, the fried onions, and the homemade BBQ sauce make for a real taste sensation. It’s best with roasted sweet potatoes. Alternatively, if you want to try Hungarian classics, Baltazár also excels at those, including beef goulash soup with potatoes and homemade sourdough bread or chicken paprikash with buttered noodles.

Award-winning bartender, new cocktails, wide selection of wines

Delicious quality meals are best accompanied by premium drinks. At Baltazár, bartender Patrik Sztankovics mixes dazzling cocktails. No better proof is needed than the fact that his cocktail creations have already won awards.

For this season, Patrik has come up with three new cocktails. It’s not just the judges he’s busy mixing drinks for, but also the guests at the bar. We recommend trying all three, including the Reine de Glace and the Negroni.

In addition to cocktails, Baltazár Bar focuses on the most authentic wines of Central Europe, while also offering the best gins in the world.

Smart luxury boutique hotel for unique hospitality

Beyond great dishes and sublime drinks, Baltazár operates as a hotel, or more precisely as a smart luxury boutique hotel that guarantees truly unique, premium hospitality. It has a small number of rooms and suites, which makes their services family friendly and personalised. Baltazár is really not a place for mass tourism, especially as it was also recommended by the Michelin guide last year.

The hotel offers a total of fifteen individually designed rooms and suites for guests wishing to stay in the historic downtown of Budapest, on the pedestrian street of the World Heritage-listed Buda Castle. The eight standard rooms and the seven suites all have a unique bohemian look and feel inspired by the art of Vivianne Westwood, Keith Haring, Andy Warhol and Jean-Michel Basquiat.

The eclectic style of communal spaces is also reflected in the rooms, with a harmonious mix of colours, textures, artwork and graphic elements. Baltazár is not a place where every room is copied-pasted. All the more so as the building itself boasts monument status, with its atmospheric spiral staircase that takes you back in time before you even set foot in your room. At the same time, transport in the area is impeccable: the hotel is easily accessible by car, so you can stay in the historic Castle District without having to give up the comfort you’re used to.

Custom-designed new suites

The first new suite in Baltazár is the King of the Castle Suite, two of which are located in the boutique hotel. Their specialty is that the living room and bedroom together make up a comfortably spacious 62m2, overlooking the historic Kapisztrán tér.

In addition to tastefully selected designer furniture, one of the King of the Castle suites comes with its own library. This really isn’t something that can be said just about any hotel.

As its name suggests, the 33m2Sauna Suite includes a fully equipped luxury Finnish sauna, which is included in the price of the room.

The wooden elements of the sauna reappear in the room’s wood panelling, made reminiscent of Finnish forests, creating a calming harmony. This suite is the perfect choice for a romantic getaway or a relaxing retreat.

The Friends & Family Suite is already impressive in size, as it is a 52m2 suite with two separate bedrooms with twin beds.

This suite can accommodate up to four friends and features individually decorated Eicholtz furniture and a Smeg minibar – just to mention a few of the carefully selected furniture pieces. It’s a social space where you can spend time with friends or family in comfort, surrounded by luxury.
