Additives are out the window at the Mitiszol festival on November 18th, a one-day event that puts organic products to the fore. Its Hungarian name, rendered as ‘What’s yours?’, might usually refer to a friendly invitation to a glass of wine but Mitiszol spreads its net wide, bringing producers of organic cheese, syrups and seasonal vegetables under one roof at the Millenáris Park. Wine remains the main focus, with examples from around Hungary, the Carpathian Basin and elsewhere in Europe. The price of admission includes all drinks samples – food, organic, of course, you have to pay for.

Wandering around this huge showcase, you will be struck by the sheer range of goods on offer. As well as more than 100 varieties of wine, beer, cider, fruit juice, syrups and Hungarian pálinka brandy will also be put out for display and sampling. Your entrance ticket (HUF 11,900) allows you to sip and sup to your heart’s delight.

You will also be able to talk with many of the producers, and find out about how they grow, prepare and package their eco-friendly goods. Herbal teas, traditional syrups, cheeses and other dairy products, salads, even natural fresh water, as well as specialty coffees expertly prepared by competing baristas – there will also be more to discover than booze alone.

Additive-free experts Házikó, an umbrella organization for farm producers, bakers, cheese-makers and others, with outlets on Dembinszky Street in Pest and Bartók Béla Boulevard in Buda, will have something special up their sleeves for the event.
