Budapest’s District XII is an area that we don’t visit as often as we ought to, but amid the alluring ambience of forested neighborhoods we find hidden restaurants that are representatives of old-fashioned Magyar cuisine and the bygone milieu of Buda-side elegance. This was our experience at Pane Vino, where the walls are covered with striped silk wallpaper, the waiters are polite, and the menu features ratatouille, Magyar wild-game stew, and kaiserschmarrn. Most of the meals are made according to the centuries-old recipes of the Bodrogi Family, and beautifully executed by Chef Zoltán Zoboki.
