Since opening for business a half-decade ago, downtown’s Borkonyha eatery rejuvenated Hungarian gastronomy and earned a Michelin star – but the staff still knows how to have fun, as seen in a mini-movie that they produced to celebrate the restaurant’s fifth birthday and to thank their loyal customers. The short video includes some impressive special effects and clever plotting, along with portraying some countryside sites where Borkonyha gets its fresh regional ingredients, and providing a behind-the-scenes peek at what’s happening in the kitchen.

The footage follows Chef Ákos Sárközi through what could be a typical day – starting with getting out of bed, through assembling the daily menu and testing it out, to serving regulars and an important critic, and then back home again. The team posted the video accompanied by the following lines: “We hope that you will like and understand what we call the essence of Borkonyha – despite the Michelin star, we won’t get smug about ourselves. We are still the same…kids from Kőbánya and Lőrinc.”

We wish Borkonyha continued success over the years to come, and look forward to watching their ten-year anniversary video, if it will be as entertaining as this one!
