It was a wonderful day, whisky lovers. The third Whisky Show took place on 12 October, and its missions - popularizing whisky culture and revealing the secrets of a more sophisticated way of alcohol consumption - were accomplished without breaking a sweat. At the event, 200 special and rare liquors were available for tasting, and guests could also attend special seminars and a cocktail making competition.

This year's Whisky Show was centered on Scottish mixed whiskies, malt whiskies, along with Canadian, Japanese, and exotic whisky specialties. Besides all these bonafide liquors, local distributors were present, too, mainly to provide an opportunity for visitors to taste and buy the good stuff.

The most notable attendees are the Japanese Nikka, the Kavalan from Taiwan, Wilson & Morgan, Jack Daniel’s new Master Distiller’s issue, Woodford Reserve, the Glenfiddich Collection, the Tullmore Dew Irish whisky, and the iconic Laphroaig. The latter overly manly booze makes its introduction at the Whisky Show, and since tickets came with tasting coupons, you could sample a handful of golden liquors.

One of the event’s most important sessions was the cocktailcompetition, which was centered on whisky. The goal was to create a concoction that maintains whisky’s characteristic taste. Only the 10-12 best bars were been invited to the competition, thus best-quality ingredients and knowledgeable professionals were a given. 60-minute-long seminars took place in 4 different rooms all throughout the day, so there was always something to do or drink.Last but not least, we would like to make something clear about the difference between “whiskey” and “whisky”. "Whisky" in general is applied to Skotch and Skotch-inspired drinks, while “whiskey” means the Irish and American types of liquors. This topic rarely comes up in a verbal conversations, but it’s still worth knowing.
