With the early onset of winter, fresh vegetables and ample sunshine are becoming harder to find, which can have a detrimental effect on both our performance at work and our eagerness to have a night out on the town. We started feeling the winter blues, so we decided to rectify the situation by finding some vitamin-bomb juices and smoothies to give ourselves a much-needed boost. After a meticulous tasting session, here are some of the brands we can wholeheartedly recommend.

Juicy

As one of the most dedicated juice joints in Budapest, JUICY has a professional delivery service (which, however, is currently on hold, and will resume in December), so ordering some of their refreshing drinks made from garlic, ginger, and oregano oil is a great alternative to popping antibiotics. The juices are a healthy option for hydrating your body with the added bonus of helping you beat the post-lunch slump. The two concoctions we tried were apple-spinach-beetroot-ginger and apple-pineapple-cucumber-spinach-ginger, and we loved both of them – ginger is a staple ingredient of most JUICY drinks due to its characteristic flavor and beneficial physiological effects. The permanent drinks menu features pulp-free juices full of valuable vitamins, and since the owners are keen on experimenting with flavors and components, the selection is regularly updated with new items.

Superjuice

Superjuice doesn’t have an actual store, so their goods are only available via delivery. Cold-pressed vegetable juices make up the bulk of their assortment, but plant milks crop up from time to time as well. Superjuice is an avid promoter of liquid fasting, offering a variety of special packages containing everything you need for a liquid-based diet. You can start with a beginner package, comprising five juices (4,699-5,207 HUF), or pick up individual products, such as our favorite combo of orange-chia seed (690-989 HUF), grapefruit-mint (690-989 HUF), and unique seasonal vegetable drinks prepared from what the various times of year have to offer. Choosing from the massive selection of Superjuice products is not easy, so trying as many as possible is the way to go.
