Continuing a competition that dates back years, kutyabarát.hu – Hungary’s premier website for canine enthusiasts – leads an annual search for the country’s best destinations for bringing man’s best friend. After a period of public voting, the jury recently made its decisions and the winners were announced at MagNet Community House. Focusing on Budapest, we can now present this year’s best dog-friendly restaurants, cafés, confectioneries, ruin pubs, and workplaces.

Love can be so strong between dog owners and their four-legged friends that they regularly show up together at all sorts of places: cafés, restaurants, or even at workplaces. That’s okay, but the next question is how the owners react to the barking and all of the other things that come with man’s best friends. The good news that there has been a huge improvement in recent years, and there are venues that specifically await visitors with dogs. Kutyabarát.hu searches for these places every year, awarding them through the “2015’s Dog-Friendly Place” competition to provide an opportunity for dog owners to find new haunts. They didn’t narrow down the search to Budapest, but for now, we are focusing on the capital.

There were two winners in every category: one that was selected by the jury and another that was chosen by the audience. The following considerations were taken into account: dog-friendly attitude, the range of services (discounts, dog bowls and beds, etc.), communication, and social responsibility. We Love Budapest also awarded its favorites in the restaurant, café, and ruin pub categories – here are the results:
