If you are willing to sacrifice some of your money to your passion for music you will find quite a few places in Budapest. Unfortunately in the last couple of years many of the local record stores closed down for good, but the hardcore ones are still waiting for the costumers. Fans and collectors, please pay attention now! The shops of our latest compilation are very serious about their supplies; for them nothing is impossible when it comes to orders or wishes. By the way, if you think you know everything about your favourite musicians and bands you may be surprised. Let’s see the first 3 cool record stores!

What’s wrong with Media Markt?

Nothing at all, especially if you need a new refrigerator, a blow drier or a new coffee machine. But what if we would like to buy some music? Fast and cheap, in a big quantity – it doesn’t sound that well, does it? It sounds quite devastating even if we were brought up on mp3 players and songs not to mention the vinyl records. If we can’t find what we are looking for – a certain performer, a genre, a bootleg recording or an era – we have no other choice but to go to the small record stores where buying something is more like a great experience than just simple shopping.
Why is that? It’s because of the wide range of supplies and because there is someone in the shop who is really good at what he’s doing.

Kultúrbarlang - About music, in a cultivated way

'There are some great treats here!” – said a customer in the Kultúrbarlang store as he was checking out the music DVDs. He got that one right for sure. You wonder what else is there to check out? There are loads of CD-s, vinyl records, films, books and concert materials.
This place is more of a ‘culture pub’ so they can’t really allow themselves to turn down the special request of the frequenters and the costumers. Musicians and artists come and go by turns with the 1400 members of the mailing list. They don’t have a Facebook timeline – that would ruin one of their best qualities, their personal approach.
Address: 1073 Budapest Kertész utca 42-44.

Lemezkuckó - I’s all about music

Lemezkuckó is one of the main reasons why Király Street is more like a bazaar than an average street; you can basically find all kinds of shops here regardless of price, profile, target audience or opening hours. Király Street will satisfy the needs of collectors as well. If you are looking for quality music Lemezkuckó will be the best stop for you on Király Street. The store is making serious efforts from 1986 on to maintain the traditions of buying music.
Address: 1077 Budapest Király u. 67.
