esō theatricals
– a nonprofit organization that features English-language shows with the aim to connect the local Hungarian and expat communities in Budapest – presents
The Music Man
, an award-winning musical comedy by American composer and playwright
Meredith Willson
. This funny and romantic performance follows fast-talking traveling salesman Harold Hill as he cons the people of River City, Iowa, into buying instruments and uniforms for a boys’ band that he vows to organize – this, despite the fact that he doesn’t know a trombone from a treble clef. His plans to skip town with the cash are foiled when he falls for Marian, the librarian, who transforms him into a respectable citizen by curtain’s fall. The amateur production is hosted by the
Ferencváros Cultural Center
in
English language
and Hungarian supertitles.
The preview of the performance is scheduled on May 17th, while the show is on view on May 18th, 20th, and 24th, starting at 7pm.
Tickets to the event are available on the official website of
