New Zealand-born guitarist Matthew Mitchell has performed in about fifty countries altogether with some of the world’s best jazz and contemporary musicians, including Byron Wallen, William Parker and Hamid Drake. He has recorded and performed in such diverse genres as Indian classical music, psychedelic rock or Hungarian folk music. In 2014 he was diagnosed with Parkinson’s disease, a life-changing event that has not been able to influence his passion for making music. His new CD, made with the jazz formation Quadraphilia, will be released on 3rd of August, 2016. The album is vigorously influenced by his experience in overcoming adversity.
