The photographic genre called street photography in the 1950s gradually developed from the last decades of the 19th century, especially in Paris and New York. Such photos were taken in other major cities of the world as well, including
Budapest.
The exhibition
Image Schema
is the first to outline the history of this popular photographic genre in Budapest through selected photos from a museum archive – the Photo Collection of
Kiscelli Museum
– and the works of contemporary photographers. Meanwhile, the city’s history is also presented from an unprecedented viewpoint.
