Einstürzende Neubauten
, one of the most significant German avant-garde industrial groups – celebrating its 35th anniversary this year – needs no introduction to the local crowds. They’ve proven time and time again in that there’s no need to get nostalgic about them since not only is the band (led by Blixa Bargeld) still capable of attracting huge crowds, but is just as good – albeit slightly different – than it was decades ago. After smashing the classic song structure to pieces with a jack-hammer, only to use its pieces to create an endlessly odd blend of noise music for connoisseurs, they’ve fine-tuned and expanded their approach over their years. It’s precisely this non-conformist blend of influences which has set the benchmark for mainstream performers such as
Depeche Mode, Nine Inch Nails or Rammstein.
