The main aim of the run is to show participants an
underground labyrinth
, the
Kőbánya tunnel system
, which used to be a limestone mine. The place was once converted into a
brewery
, but its cellars are now abandoned.
The limestone mine was used for the construction of the two pylons of the Chain Bridge, the stone bits of the Margaret Bridge, the Citadel, the Matthias church, the Fisherman’s Bastion, the University Library on the Pest side, the Hungarian Academy of Sciences, and the building of the Opera House.
