As the Lantern Festival comes to an end, the Biodome at Budapest Zoo & Botanical Gardens gears up for an impressive transformation. March heralds the arrival of the 'Lightdome,' illuminating the whole space with awe-inspiring creations by both local and international light artists.

Ever wondered about the colossal glass structure in the Budapest Zoo? Meet the Biodome, an indoor enclosure designed to house exotic animals. While its purpose awaits to be fulfilled, you can visit this majestic construction. Currently, you can step into a dragon-filled celebration for the Lunar New Year at the Lantern Festival. But from March 1-17th, the Biodome transforms once again, spoiling you with a new spectacle. Enjoy a new display of unique light art, inspired by natural phenomena – casting a radiant glow throughout the entire space.

Local and international artists bring their creations, brought to life by the magic of several hundred intelligent lamps, projectors, and high-performance slide projectors. Specially crafted for the Biodome, these unique light and audiovisual installations are sure to leave you in awe. Take your time to fully immerse yourself – with approximately 1.5 hours needed to explore the entire space, the experience promises to be nothing short of mesmerising.

The Lightdome is organized by COLLOC Productions, the team behind INOTA contemporary festival (see photos here), and Centrum Production. They are joined by LaLuz Visuals, renowned for their monumental light paintings, and the internationally acclaimed light artist Karl Kola. These distinguished artists, the creative minds behind the artworks and installations within the Lightdome, have previously showcased their creations at numerous international festivals, too.

Lightdome is open between March 1-17th (5 pm - 10 pm). More details on the Hungarian website here.
