Winestone Budapest – Korona
Near Kálvin tér at the opening to Kecskeméti utca, two terraces indicate the presence of a modern bistro. Around the entrance of the Mercure Budapest Korona, the Winestone restaurant is spacious with art-deco touches, where from breakfast to evening, wines and classy dishes are overseen by executive chef József Gran. The bread is sourdough and arrives freshly delivered from nor/ma to serve as an hors d’oeuvre (it’s filling, don’t overdo it!), the goats’ cheese and basic ingredients are Hungarian, the dedicated wine of the house from Etyek. We heartily recommend the eponymous ‘stone’ tasters, whether as an appetiser or for dessert, but don’t miss out on the pasta dishes! If you’re just up for a glass of wine, you’d be more than welcome – in fact, you can even take a trusted one home from the in-house wine store.
