Veli Bej Bath
Built in the Ottoman era, the Veli Bej Baths preserve the prestige and atmosphere of a traditional Turkish spa, though one since redesigned with modern fixtures. Despite limited time allotments of two or three hours per session, and a smaller capacity, you have many of the elements of a classic Budapest bathing experience: Finnish and infrared saunas, a steam room, an aromatherapy pool, a jacuzzi and a communal hot pool with thermal water. Healing waters contain calcium carbonate beneficial for those suffering from rheumatic problems or recuperating from surgeries. The beautiful classicist interior beneath the Turkish dome was designed by the famed Hungarian architect József Hild of Basilica fame. These house a hospital complex with rheumatology and cardiology departments, built in the 1960s.
