Petőfi Irodalmi Múzeum (PIM)
The palace of the Károlyi family became one of the major centers of Pest’s literary life shortly after it was built, since the guests of György Károlyi’s salon included Mihály Vörösmarty, Ferenc Kölcsey, and many other literary artists. The institution, commonly referred to as “PIM”, was furnished in 1954. The Petőfi Museum of Literature (“Petőfi Irodalmi Múzeum”) is responsible for the collection, preservation, processing, publication and exhibition of literary memories – only the Academy is in the possession of a collection of this grandiose. In addition to the permanent Petőfi-exhibition and the temporary exhibitions, the museum also offers a variety of programs such as literary discussions, readings, book presentations, roundtable discussions, summer concerts, and theater shows. The castle’s garden, which can be visited freely, and the restaurant situated there can also provide visitors with a unique experience – after all, we cannot have a coffee with Petőfi everyday.
