If you want to relatively quickly get to somewhere close to nature, where there aren’t many people, and from where there’s a great view, then Ördög-orom, the most significant rock formation of District XII, is a sound choice. Steep, rocky terrains are followed by lighter forest trails surrounded by protected plants and birds. Six stations and half an hour later, you’ll be greeted by a magnificent view: besides Széchenyi Hill, Sas Hill, and Tétényi plateau, you can also see the villas that were probably built to help their owners hide from the curious eyes of others. Up there at a height of 317 meters, it only feels natural to sit down to read and relax, but you can also cook up something.
How to get there: the easiest way to get there from downtown is by taking bus 8E and get off at the Eper utca stop – the signs indicating the way are a few minutes’ walk away from there.
