The first Hungarian restaurant to be awarded two Michelin stars, Onyx successfully placed its trust in head chef Ádám Mészáros after the departure of Tamás Széll and Szabina Szulló in 2017. This fine-dining mecca is found in the heart of the city centre, right on Vörösmarty tér, under the same roof as world-famous café/confectionery Gerbeaud. The furnishings are elegant and stylish, while the kitchen is impressively ambitious. Lunch (Thur-Sat only) consists of three, four or six courses, dinner (Tue-Sat), six. Currently, discerning diners can choose between the ‘Within Our Borders’ options (ie Hungarian catfish, oxtail and venison) and ‘Beyond Our Borders’ (ie cod, trout and veal). All is underscored by tradition and innovation, the watchwords by which Onyx operates – and earns Michelin stars.
