Mediterranean

If you’re missing a little Mediterranean sunshine, it can be brought to your door. Quality Neapolitan pizza can be ordered from Igen, Donna Mamma, Kemences Pizza, Manu+, Pompás and Digo, the latter already experimenting with Roman varieties in addition to those from Naples. Speaking of Roman pizza, Pizzica should be offering home delivery soon.

For trattoria-style cuisine, try Pizza Dellarosso, Pizza Manufaktúra, Trattoria Pomo D’Oro and Il Terzo Cerchio – the last two also offer pasta dishes. If you’re a fan of DIY, you’ll love the Blitz Pizza initiative – they just bring you the dough and the basics, and you can bake your pizza at home. For purely pastas, turn to Lashka or 2 Spaghi, and look at the daily offer at Pasta.

Spanish flavours are brought to your house in the form of tapas by Pata Negra or among the ham dishes of Divin Porcello. Greek places include memorable kebabs of Blue Agori and Gyradiko. The authentic, modern Greek dishes offered by Mazi should bring back memories of your last holiday there.

Staying in southern Europe, for a taste of Portugal, you can order a pastel de nata from Lisboa for breakfast.

Middle East

There is also a wide selection of Middle-Eastern cuisines: Dobrumba, whose kitchen travels from the Atlas mountains to Mount Ararat, delivers lunch in the form of a two-course menu. Byblos, known for its spread of dishes, also brings home specialities from the Levantine, and you can order Lebanese food from Leila’s Authentic. Levante is a bit Middle-Eastern, a bit Mediterranean, very professional, terrifically exciting and definitely worth a try at home.

India & the Far East

If you’re after Indian food, look no further than Rajkot Palace, Curry House, Taj Mahal, Indigo, Good Karma or Maharaja. All are great choices and all do home delivery.

If you want Chinese, turn to Wang Mester on Gizella utca or order from either of the two Biangs. Happy Panda continues to produce Chinese street-food gems, and you can order Asian noodles, rice and soups from the Pad Thai Wok Bar. From this week, one of the best Thai eateries in town, Rim Thanonh, also springs back into action. Asian fusion and Vietnamese dishes can be ordered from Sáo and Khan, of the same top quality whatever the external circumstances, and the same is true for the Hai Nam Pho Bistro and Hanoi Xua.

North America/UK

For Tex-Mex, opt for ¡Arriba! or Gringos Amigos. There are still plenty of hamburgers to be had – Kandalló delivers, with no drop in quality. Competition is provided by Burger Bárhol, Tuning Bar and Burger, Zing and Black Cab, and even Bölcső delivers to a couple of nearby districts. And if you don’t make it to Hawaii this year, you can order the islands' healthy and delicious specialities from the Ono Poké Bowl.

Finally – fish and chips! Yup, if you have a hankering for the chippie, order a warming portion of fish and chips from Nemo.
