It’s always nice to have a cup of tea – whether you are alone or with your friends, whether you choose the traditional Earl Gray blends or the more refreshing fruity tastes. It’s even better to drink a few cups of tea when it’s dark and chilly outside, so the autumn season is just perfect – as long as tea drinking is concerned. We visited some of the best places where hot tea is served – check out our selection of Budapest’s tea houses.

1000 tea
The place called CD Fű, which is really close to the Egyetem tér, has closed temporarily, but fortunately there is another great place only a couple of minutes away, on . It’s called and it has been running for 15 years now. Despite the fact that this teahouse is situated in one of the most crowded and popular tourist venues of Budapest, it is the most quiet and peaceful one of our selection. There are only a few people around who usually come to have a chat with the two guys who are running the and they also come to 1000 tea to have an aubergine pita, a nice cup of green tea and to lay in the cosy beanbags in the open-air inner court of the teahouse. You can take away your favourite Chinese, Japanese, Ceylon or Indian tea and you can also seek for some extra advice as you are waiting for your hot drink.
