The sun is shining brightly as flowers start to bloom across Budapest these days, so it seems safe to say that spring is here in Hungary once again – but while we’re glad to welcome the warm weather, we’re also impressed by a trio of freshly released mini-movies made by artistic Budapest visitors during 2017’s winter months. All three of these videos beautifully capture Hungary’s capital with breathtaking scenery, fitting background music, and cinematographic touches like slow-motion and time-lapse footage – watch them for one last chill session before enjoying Budapest’s springtime splendor.

Posted in early February by BoT.Films – a YouTube channel enthusiastically maintained by Marco Meyer – the Budapest edition of the “A Moment in Time” series (which also highlights Denver, Berlin, and Vienna) begins with a time-lapse scene of ice sheets flowing on the Danube, and continues with frosty exterior footage of landmarks like Vajdahunyad Castle and Heroes’ Square, along with artfully filmed interior shots of the Basilica, the Great Market Hall, and the Opera House.

The Poland-based Vimeo page of mkv produced “This Is Bulgaria” and “This Is Barcelona” before posting “This Is Budapest” a month ago, starring a bespectacled young woman discovering the sights of Hungary’s capital amid the winter cold to the music of Tom Rosenthal. Much of the video is shot at sunset to capture Budapest in beautiful light, while interior footage includes playfully spinning scenery from the Museum of Applied Arts and a captivatingly curvaceous stairwell.

Judging by the spare amount of content on his YouTube channel, Italy’s Lo Spataro is just getting started as an internet filmmaker, but the fresh debut of his Budapest travelogue reveals considerable cinematographic talent. Apparently documenting a recent romantic visit to the Magyar metropolis, the video includes nice match cuts, stylish slow-motion footage, and thought-provoking close-ups while providing panoramic glimpses of Budapest in the weeks before springtime’s arrival.
