Most Hungarian and international experts working with wine agree that
Tokaj
is not only one of
Hungary’s
top
wine regions
; its size and unique wines make it a world-class wine-producing area. Building the brand on the international scene is important, but Hungarians should also be made aware of the revolutionary transformations carried out in the wine region in the past two decades.
The
Tokaj Grand
event series is organized for the first time in 2015 with the aim of drawing the attention of as many consumers as possible to Tokaj’s dry wines, which have by now earned a central spot on the market, to the top-notch Aszú style, and the late-harvest items, which fully reflect the wines’ fruity flavor.
Along with thematic wine tastings and wine dinners across the country, the main event of the program series will be the
Nagy Tokaji Kóstoló
(Big Tokaj Tasting), taking place on March 28, 2015 at the five-star
Corinthia Hotel Budapest
. At the tasting, 70 Tokaj wineries will present the most exciting items in their current selection. Visitors can also find out about what the restaurants and hotels of the wineries have in store, as well as visit the separate stands of several local wine-related organizations and wine region events.
Specializing in the organization of premium, wine-themed events, the
Winelovers
group is eager to make Tokaj Grand more special than all their other wine tastings by incorporating several new aspects. In line with international trends, the Aszú hall will be opened for those interested in individual, quiet tasting sessions. Take a seat at a separate table and enlist the help of an expert sommelier to taste different kinds of Aszú, which is the top variety of the Tokaj portfolio. Guest at the event can enjoy this service for a fee.
Eight
master courses
discussing Tokaj constitute another special feature of the Nagy Tokaji Kóstoló. With diverse themes, the courses take guests as far back in time as 1993 with the help of the 5 Puttyonos tokaji Aszús of Disznókő, help them find out about the international rivals of Tokaj’s dry wines, let them taste the most exciting wines of the Mádi Kör, let them find out about Tokaj’s main wine-producing areas through a tasting led be István Szepsy, an internationally acclaimed wine expert will take them through the current selection of Tokaj Kereskedőház, and thematic wine lists evoke the atmosphere of the region’s three main events, Bor, mámor… Bénye, Tokaj Ősz and Mindszent Havi Mulatság. The official press conference of the Nagy Tokaji Borárverés (Big Tokaj Wine Auction) will also take place here.
