Despite their creation with a centuries-old medium, the paintings of Hungarian artist
Attila Szűcs
are at the forefront of European modern art, with his image-melding visuals frequently displayed in Italy, Austria, Germany, France, and far beyond. In this new exhibition in the artist's hometown,
Attila Szűcs
again takes ordinary images from everyday life or the Internet and renders them into extraordinary visions by imagining how they transition into otherworldly forms through the passage of time or, in his most recent paintings, with the suspension of gravity. Reflecting the weightlessness of free-falling objects, the paintings represent how human actions succumb to unexpected metamorphoses in a series of events linked without consciousness, resulting in scenes of an old man softening into his armchair, or a naked woman melting into horizontal stripes as a car sinks next to her.
