Saint Stephen’s Day starts with concerts on the 19th of August. The next day, the national flag gets hoisted on
Kossuth Square
, and then comes the inauguration ceremony of officers. The Parliament will be free to visit all day, and in addition to the cake of Hungary, visitors will be able to taste the country’s sugar-free cake, the national defense’s cake and the Saint Stephen’s Day bread. The festive fireworks will recall the turning points in the history of Hungary.
Wednesday program:
8.30-10.00 The hoisting of the national flag of Hungary, Defense Minister Csaba Hende’s speech and the inauguration ceremony of officers. János Áder, the President of the Republic, holds a ceremonial speech.
10.00-16.00 Open day at the Parliament.
10.00-22.00 Family programs at Clark Ádám Square. Performers: Magyar Rhapsody Project, the Ivan and the Parazol, Ed Phillips and the Memphis Petrol, György Ferenczy and the Rackajam, Gyula Bill Deák and his band.
10.00-22.00 Magyar Ízek Utcája (Street of Hungarian Flavors) on the Danube bank.
15.00 Parade of masters and ceremonial bread blessing at the St. Stephen Statue of the Buda Castle (organizers: the Folk Art Association and the Local Government of Buda Castle).
17.00 Ceremonial Mass and Holy Right procession at St. Stephen’s Basilica.
19.00-21.00 Wish chain on the Danube bank with Petőfi Radio.
21:00 Festive fireworks.
