László Csáki
’s
short animation
, titled
Blue Pelikan
, is very close to the starting of the production process and it was never screened before. The director previously made numerous animations, documentaries and short films but he is mostly known for his chalk animations and music videos. In his film he tells the story of the emblematic phenomenon of the years following the change of regime through the four main characters’ narratives: the story of how rapidly the international train ticket falsification business spread among the youth. At this event not just the film screening will happen but the director wants to get to know his audience – so you – and to collect the remarks that will shape the final dramaturgy and structure of the film.
The
story
:
The story shows a curious phenomenon of the years following the change of regime through the narratives of four main characters. The falsification of international train tickets spread among the youth with a record speed. This soft form of forgery was typical and an almost emblematic felony of Hungary. These businesses were basically built on the recognition of how easy it is to erase, and after drying, reapply a new, optional destination on the indigo written international train tickets - with the help of basic homestead cleaning products. The story is based on personal experiences as Lászó Csáki himself travelled around Europe with these ‘washed’ tickets.
