What makes an object, especially a household item, a sculpture? How can a giant cardboard box transform into an overcoat and what is your part in the
process of becoming a work of art
? These are the questions
Erwin Wurm
is trying to answer, with the help of the visitors to the
Ludwig Museum.

The
Austrian artist
 earned
global

fame
 with his
avant-garde
figures that break free from ordinary sculpting techniques. His exhibitions often involve the audience and include everyday objects, such as clothes, furniture or different means of transport.

In One-Minute Works, these
simple items are deprived of their main function
as they are transformed into artworks: a dustpan appears as a tool to measure masculinity, while an empty detergent bottle becomes an instrument for the audience to practise an ephemeral exercise.
