Douglas Kirkland has undertaken more than 2,000 commissions since the beginning of his career in the '60s, and captured more than 600 celebrities on camera, from Marilyn Monroe to Angelina Jolie. He also worked on film sets, including The Sound of Music, 2001: A Space Odyssey, Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid and Titanic.

Kirkland has won multiple awards with his pictures, many on display in permanent collections of renowned institutions such as the National Portrait Gallery in London and the American Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences.

The Mai Manó House will present two major series taken by the photographer when he was just starting out. In 1961, he spent a magical evening with the greatest sex symbol of the era, Marilyn Monroe, whom he captured in 55 images, then in 1962, he photographed Coco Chanel for 21 days, making a series of 60 pictures of the iconic stylist. These exciting works of intimate photography provide an insight into the lives of two stellar celebrities, and are on show for the first time in Hungary. Admission is free.
