For the 96th time, the Association of Hungarian Publishers and Booksellers is hosting the country’s largest open-air celebration of contemporary Hungarian literature. Budapest Book Week takes place from 12 to 15 June across Vörösmarty Square, Vigadó Square and the Danube Promenade, with more than 150 exhibitors welcoming visitors.
Over the four days, the event offers much more than books. Expect stage programmes, live music, author signings, quizzes and games. Among this year’s highlights: new releases from authors such as János Lackfi, Judit Ildikó Kiss, Gabriella Jakupcsek, Ádám Rényi, László Mérő and Egon Rónai. You’ll also be able to catch performances by the Várkonyi Csibészek and the Budapest Klezmer Band, among others.
