The history of Chinese literature can be traced back to the creation of Shijing, an extensive anthology of songs, poems and religious hymns. Guó fēng (‘Airs of the States’) is one of its four sections that contain ancient folk songs in the vernacular of common people. The works present the eventful lives of the people of ancient China. Inspired by this piece of literature, the artists of Beijing Dance Academy have created a production that expresses poetic ideas through the language of movement. The performance is held at the Müpa on 5 February.
