This exhibition focuses on the first Hungarian edition of Milan Kundera’s novel, The Joke. The concept revolves around the introduction and prohibition of the novel in 1968, following the invasion of Czechoslovakia on August 21st, and its reappearance on the bookshelves 20 years later.
The exhibition opening, to be held on the 50th anniversary of the occupation, is also the launch event of the book of the same name, containing relevant essays, interviews and documents from Hungary’s Kádár era.
