Budapest Jazz Club
celebrates its 7th birthday with a truly special repertoire.
Like every year, talented artists of the youngest generation will take the stage at 7.30 pm on January 9. The fresh-faced members of two dynasties will join forces: singer
János Egri Jr.
will contribute his microphone and energetic style of performance to the trio of
Krisztián Oláh
.
From 9 pm the six-member
East Gipsy Band
, founded by brothers
Elemér and József Balázs
, will play to prove that there is a fusion of Roma music and jazz that is different from
Django Reinhardt
, but is equally excellent, innovative and exciting. The fusion will start an irreversible reaction for sure, producing dynamic, virtuouso solos and masterful improvisations.
From 10:30 pm an even bigger group will take temporary ownership of the club’s instruments, also featuring a varied range of exotic sound producing tools. Sometimes including as many as ten members depending on the number of guest musicians,
Euro-African Playground
can create an ecstatic atmosphere in just a few beats. Their music is an absolutely original mix of African and European rhythms and harmonies and the traditional philosophy of jazz. A rendition of “Happy Birthday” you’ve never heard before is set to make their gig one to remember.
The festival-like stream of performances will be enhanced with a multiple-tier birthday cake and entry will be
free of charge
, as the regulars of the club will well know by this 7th time.
