Between March 29th and April 2nd, 2015,
Interkultur Hungária Nonprofit
Kft. will organize the
International Choir Competition & Festival Budapest
for the 15th time. Starting in 1988, the event has been drawing Hungarian and international choirs to Budapest for 27 years. The honorary president of the Choir Competition is Mrs. Zoltán Kodály, née Sarolta Péczely.

This year’s event will be attended by
60 choirs
, almost 2,000 singers
from 16 countries
. Along with 31 Hungarian groups, musical ensembles will arrive from Europe, the Far East and the US. In line with tradition, the Hungarian host choruses will welcome the international attendees with a performance at the opening concert.

The monumental
oratory
to be performed at the concert was composed by Medelssohn to commemorate the 400th anniversary of the invention of the printing press. Similar to Beethoven’s 9th Simphony, its first movement actually contains three symphonic movements, and it will be followed by the oratoric part, recitativos, arias and powerful choral segments.
