Pack your bags – the list of the cheapest European capitals has been revealed. And Budapest is on it.

The financial experts at Gambling 'N Go have studied all of Europe’s capitals to find the ten cheapest European city breaks. To come up with the list, they calculated the price of flights from any London airport, together with a night’s stay in a hotel and a three-course meal for two at a mid-range restaurant – says TimeOut.

The full list includes:

  • Warsaw, Poland
  • Madrid, Spain
  • Sofia, Bulgaria
  • Riga, Latvia
  • Prague, Czech Republic
  • Budapest, Hungary
  • Vienna, Austria
  • Berlin, Germany

Why Budapest?

According to the analysis, a night’s stay in a hotel in Budapest is priced at an average of £28,22, and a city break rounds up to a total of £204,93. That sounds like a pretty good bargain for seeing the Buda Castle, the Fisherman's Bastion, the ParliamentSt Stephan's Basilica, and the Liberty Bridge – all being among the most popular sights. Upon visiting, you can also swim in one of the best thermal spas in Europe, neck a pint at a ruin bar or test your mystery-solving skills in an escape room.
