Friday, 15 July

MyMuseum/ArtMarket
From noon on Friday, you can view the MyMuseum Gallery collection, and then from 8pm, see the exhibition Comes in WavesArtMarket is held once a month when most of the gallery collection becomes available for sale. Comes in Waves shows the destructive and constructive power of water at the same time. The sea, more precisely the Mediterranean, acts as the catalyst for artists, Eirini Sourgiadaki and Isabel Val. The sea, where both find their roots, is constantly shaping itself. You can meet the artists, ask questions and be taken on a tour of the artworks. The setting is the excellent Három Holló café by Elizabeth Bridge. More details

DOTM: Nyonyo beings x MÜTS
This Friday, you can meet the designers of the month, MÜTS and Nyonyo beings, at the Lollipop Factory on Király utca. The Hungarian clothing brand MÜTS deals with paintings made on recycled clothes. Items kill two birds with one stone: they are both cool and useful. The basic history of Nyonyo beings began with the sewing of small and later larger textiles. They are made of recycled material, the cuts are sometimes funny, but mostly simple, always informal and changeable. More details 

Reflektor Festival
Moved from its original edge-of-town location to the many stages of the Akvárium Klub in the city centre, the inaugural Reflektor Festival is bringing a whole host of alternative-music acts to Budapest. Friday sees Super Besse from Belarus, Temples from Kettering and Mother’s Cake from a tiny Tyrolean village in the Alps. More details

Czakó Market
At Czakó Market the selection of seasonal, domestic producers is varied, including delicacies from Málna MajorHridaya Farm and Vincze mushrooms, and for dessert it is worth ending your browse with strudel at Zsóka's. More details. See our round-up of farmer's markets here.

Csík Zenekar & Hobo
Few bands can say that they have kept going for 30 years, not worrying about the passing of time or fashion, and skilfully managing their successes. Csík Zenekar are just such a combo, throwing new compositions in with old favourites. The guest performer for the night is Hobo, an evergreen rocker with a heart of gold. More details

Fran Palermo
On Saturday, popular alt-rockers Fran Palermo hit downtown alfresco club PONTOON. The highly successful indie folksters, active for more than ten years, now tread the boards as a quartet. Yambo, Temu and  Revithis take care of the afterparty. More details

Just Craft It Budapest Beer Fest
It’s the last chance to sample the delights of craft beers from around the world showcased at the Botellón Terrace on Kazinczy utca. The idea of ​​the four-day Just Craft It Fest was dreamed up by the team at Beerside (and, of course, the associated Hops Beer Bar and BEER to GO), so the range on offer will certainly not disappoint. You can taste 164 different options of 37 brews from 15 countries on tap, by the can and from the bottle, including 38 premieres and 21 collaborations. Domestic breweries are represented by Brew Your MindHorizontB*BOP Fermentory and InVitroZabáljcsak! BBQ and Burger Bár-Hol provide sustenance. More details

The Game
It’s 1963 in a Budapest under a slowly unravelling Communist system. State Security officer, András Jung (Zsolt Nagy), lives happily with his wife, Éva (Gabriella Hámori), but is blocked from climbing the ladder at work by competitive colleague, Kulcsár (Péter Scherer). When legendary spy Pál Markó (János Kulka) emerges from a murky past, all kinds of twists and turns ensue. This year’s major Hungarian release is being screened across town, here at arthouse cinema Művész with English subtitles at 3pm and 6.30pm. More details
