From Saturday, 7 May, vintage trams will be running between the city centre and Óbuda via Liberty Bridge and the Buda embankment. Two heritage vehicles, made in the early 1900s, will be trundling along the N19 route every weekend between 3pm and 9.30pm until the end of October. Passengers require a special ticket, details given below.
A half-timbered tram manufactured by the Schlik factory in 1908, revamped in 1987, and a Budapest-made vehicle from 1906, used for private transport in Amsterdam between 1984 until 2004, will be running from central Deák Ferenc tér and Katinyi mártírok parkja in Óbuda. The route skirts the Buda embankment after crossing Liberty Bridge.
A single ticket is 500 forints, 300 forints for children, or there’s a day pass for 2,000/1,200 forints, available from all BKK sales points. See details here.
