A former manufacturing hub in north Pest, Újpest, is to get its own lavender park in June. Alongside the Szilas stream, walking trails and benches will allow visitors to relax and take in the colours and aromas of early summer.

At this time of year, there are several places outside Budapest to pick lavender – but soon a special lavender park will be created in Újpest, to open at the end of June.

Lavender aplenty

There will be rest stops with benches, paths with Selfie spots, solar lighting and around 1,400 other plants along with nearly 6,000 lavender blooms,” says Norbert Trippon, deputy mayor of Újpest.
